• Introduction
• IL-7 is a glycoprotein secreted by bone marrow stromal cells with a molecular weight of 25 KDa; its gene is located on chromosome 8. Genetic engineering is now used to obtain IL-7 from mammalian cell culture supernatants transfected with IL-7 expressing plasmids. The target cells of IL-7 are mainly lymphocytes. Progenitor cells, thymus cells and peripheral mature T cells all have growth-promoting activities.
