Interleukin-2 is a cytokine of the chemokine family. It is mainly produced by activated T cells and has multiple effects (mainly to promote the growth, proliferation and differentiation of lymphocytes). IL-2 plays an important role in the body's immune response and antiviral infection, and can stimulate T cell proliferation that has been initiated by specific antigens or mitogenic factors; it can activate T cells and promote cytokine production; stimulate NK cell proliferation; enhance NK killing activity and produce cytokines; induce LAK cell production; promote B cell proliferation and secrete antibodies; activate macrophages.
