rRT-PCR for the Detection of SARS-CoV-2

Creative Biolabs is a leading service provider that focuses on SARS-CoV-2 drug discovery services. Currently, various platforms have been established for screening SARS-CoV-2 in different population. We have successfully established a series of Real-time Reverse Transcription PCR (rRT-PCR) assays for identifying SARS-CoV-2 and developing a series of IVD kits for our worldwide clients.

Introduction to rRT-PCR

A novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) has been shown to be highly contagious and to cause many severe respiratory diseases in humans. The virus is a type of coronaviruses that has a single-stranded RNA genome, which is responsible for encoding several key proteins. With the outbreak of SARS-CoV-2 in Wuhan, Hubei Province, China, a number of in-vitro diagnostics (IVD) kits have been developed by using various PCR-based technologies, such as rRT-PCR, for screening the virus emergence in different populations. rRT-PCR has been considered as a benchmark for detecting and quantifying RNA targets and is being broadly used in clinical diagnosis. In rRT-PCR assays, an oligonucleotide probe will be designed to bind with the key sequence of SARS-CoV-2. Meanwhile, the probe will cleave when the Taq polymerase is added into this detection system. The cleavage will be detected once the fluorescent signal being released.

Our Services for rRT-PCR

In the past few years, rRT-PCR has become the standard assay for screening RNA targets in different coronavirus subtypes, including MERS-CoV and SARS-CoV. As an expert in drug discovery, Creative Biolabs offers a full range of IVD kits development services for our clients to help identify SARS-CoV-2 in a fast and cost-effective manner. Our rRT-PCR assays are high-throughput detection tools with enhanced chemistries, more suitable PCR systems, as well as strict protocols. Among them, the TaqMan assay has become a popular way for monitoring the PCR reaction system and detecting quantifying SARS-CoV-2 mRNA. In particular, this assay has many advantages for detecting SARS-CoV-2, including but not limited to:

  • Using fluorescent reporter to monitor each cycle of PCR amplification
  • Allowing for analyzing samples with different target abundance
  • Realizing the inherent quantitative ability of PCR assay
  • More stable PCR assays that can easily obtain reproducible results

With the help of abundant experience and professional scientists, Creative Biolabs is committed to guiding global customers to a range of SARS-CoV-2 drug discovery services. Our laboratory services have many advanced chemical and biological technologies to support the requirement of our customers in the fast-growing SARS-CoV-2 research. If you are interested in our services, please feel free to contact us or send us an inquiry.
